Purpose of Test

Our blood contains sugar in the form of glucose. If this sugar level becomes very high then it may cause diabetes. A person may be suffering from hypoglycemia if this level elevates very much. The purpose of this test is to analyze and know this level so that it can be treated if required. Hence, this test is very important in the medical field for a patient.
A blood sugar test is conducted by collecting a small sample of blood from the patient and conducting an analysis using a glucose meter. A normal value for this test is between 70 and 100 mg/dL.
Reasons Behind Abnormal Results

Type I Diabetes- which is an autoimmune disease in response to the pancreas not being able to produce insulin. There is also a hereditary component to type I diabetes.
Type II Diabetes- which can be caused by obesity and lack of exercise, but also genetic predisposition.
