Purpose of Test
This test is performed to know the level of blood in feces. It’s may cause digestive problems. The blood is generally present in microscopic level and it indicates the beginning of colon cancer. Hence, this is an important test to be performed and tested.
NORMAL TEST RESULTS
The results are said to be normal if the test results are detected to be negative. This will indicate that no blood occult is present in the blood saving the patient from the risk of colon cancer. This is a rare condition as in the most of the cases the result is negative only.
Reasons Behind Abnormal Results
If the reports after this test are positive then this will indicate that the result is negative and occult blood is present in the feces. This may cause the following problems or complications:-
- Abnormal bleeding in digestive tract
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Presence of benign or cancerous tumors
How Test Performed
The test is performed through the normal procedure of taking a blood sample. The blood sample of the patient is taken out which is then examined and tested to detect the presence of this microscopic blood in feces. The patient may be asked to avoid the intake of few things before the test hence expert’s advice is necessary before going for this test for getting the accurate results.
