Purpose of Test
Free-beta-hCg is a substance which is a substance which is found in mother’s bloodstream and regulates the amount of down’s syndrome. This down’s syndrome may cause deformities in new born bay that’s why it is important to know the presence and amount of this free-beta-hcg in mother’s blood as the growth and development of the child will depend on it.
NORMAL TEST RESULTS
The normal results, in this case, means the negative reports which will indicate that this component free-beta-hcg is not present in the fetus and the fetus is free from any kind of chromosome deformities.
Reasons Behind Abnormal Results
If the reports are abnormal ie positive then there is a huge probability for the newly born to take birth with deformities. These deformities can be very dangerous which may remain with the child for life-time like:-
- Small lifespan
- Low hearing power
- Hole in heart
How Test Performed
This is a screening test and like other screening test keeping a number of parameters and factors into consideration the results are calculated. In this test, the blood sample of the mother is taken which is then examined and then compared with the available results for the same age group, pregnancy and weight.
