Purpose of Test
Iron gives energy and strength to our body. It also helps in determining the hemoglobin level in the body. Low iron level indicates various diseases in the patient’s body hence it is important to calculate the iron level in the patient’s body. This test helps us to know the level of iron in the patient’s body and hence is an important test.
NORMAL TEST RESULTS
Iron test is done to check the composition of various iron related components in the blood. The normality of the result is decided based on that particular composition of various components.
Reasons Behind Abnormal Results
If the body contains insufficient amount of iron then the results are said to be abnormal which may be due to or may cause the following complications:-
- Dizziness or weakness
- Severe headache or body ache
- Skin becomes pale and dull
- Chronic or fatigue diseases
How Test Performed
This test is performed by the simple method of taking out some blood as sample from the patient’s body by a process called venipucture and then testing that blood with the help of various specimens present in lab. The patient may or may not be asked to fast before the test depending on various situations and conditions.
