Purpose of Test
This test consists of a panel of various tests related to lipid profile which measure the level of LDL, HDL, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and very low density lipo protein in the body. All these tests helps to understand the probability of heart diseases and other pancreatic diseases. Hence, this is an important test.
NORMAL TEST RESULTS
Normal results are evaluated by calculating all the levels of the components and then comparing them in order to determine the complete composition which is then compared with the normal results as this is a type of screening test.
Reasons Behind Abnormal Results
The abnormal results may be due to or indicates the following complications:-
- Chronic heart diseases or pancreatic diseases
- Obesity and excessive fats in body
- Patient more prone to heart attack or highly diabetic
How Test Performed
The test is performed by the simple method of taking out some blood from the patient’s body as a sample by a process called venipuncture and then examining that sample for checking the level of all the above mentioned components through various specimens. Generally, the patient is not asked to fast before the test.
